When driving to the office today, I was in front of a mom and daughter. They were both talking to once another, and it seemed like they were having a serious discussion. They both had serious faces on and were talking with their hands, which usually means that someone is trying to state a point. The mom had always what it seemed like had a rebuttal about what the daughter had said, and it fascinated me. I have been with some lawyers that use this same type of method with their clients. Are your clients like your kids? I would hope not to think so!

What the Heck is Legal Business Ethic?

The main point I am getting across to you is that you want to treat your clients like your kids in a way, but not to discredit their statements. Listen, then react. Your experience always trumps their opinions in the end, and you already have a set goal in how you want to take the case. You know all the questions they are going to ask, as do you with your kids. Clients come to you for guidance, not to be told what to do. In many cases the client will seem more aware of how you are, and if they will be able to handle you as their lawyer.

Legal Business Ethic comes into play everyday. Use it to your advantage, and be the right lawyer for your client to fall back on.

Step one, install the SEOpressor plugin onto your wordpress and activate it. No need to change the settings that come by default.
See video below if you need some help with this. Instead of searching for SEOpressor press the upload button as it won’t be on wordpress’s free plug in library and then just follow the screen instructions.

Okay now that that is done, start a new post or page and name it something with the “keyword phrase” you want to rank for.
For this guide my keyword will be “spartacus gods of the arena episode 3”
I will just copy some text from some random site that has a well written article on the subject (normally I would hire someone to write me an article).

Now you can see what is missing to make your post/page well optimized for search engines. Look in the box to the right (SEOpressor).
Let start by doing all the H1,H2,H3.

We do this by typing in the keyword phrase and then high-lightening it with the mouse and pressing the H1, H2 or H3 button from the wordpress menu.

Next step is to add the keyword phrase you want to rank for in the format of: underline, bold, italics (in any order). Just highlight the keyword phrase and press the format you want to change the phrase into.

Next step is internal linking (which I highly recommend you do, as it will help the crawlers find all your pages and give you even better SEO score).
And add an image with alt text.
You can use any image from any website, just copy it and post in you post/page and name it with your keyword phrase.

Your all good now and ready to go, but for you super achievers you can go one step extra.

This part is very simple. Its just adding tags which you can see in the pic, all you have to do is add a description for the search engines and some meta tags.

There is an excellent FREE plug in for this called all in one SEO package (just do a search for it like in the youtube video) and install it.
After installing it you will need to configure it, its so simple I won’t go into details here. Just read what instructions on the config page. (If you still have questions about this just ask in the thread).

When done configuring go back to the post/page you were working on and add the details of that page in the fields pointed out.

In a recent blog post on Google’s Official blog, they reveal how to rank in Bing, as conducted by their own studies of the search engine. Rank in Bing Here! This comes at now surprise that Google would do its own tests on how the other search engines operate.

The key to any marketing effort is having identified goals. This is no truer than when it comes to marketing your law firm through a website. So ask yourself, what are your goals for your website? Here are just a few examples:

Some law firms just want what I describe as “an online business card”. Their website goal is to have something to show people who ask them about their website. They don’t care whether or not their site will get visitors, leads, or generate new clients. They just want see their law firm’s name in lights.

Become A Blawg Superstar

Some lawyers recognize that merely having an online business card isn’t enough. They want to be the next great blog author. They want a readership. Perhaps they want to generate advertising revenue. They understand some basics about law firm internet marketing, but aren’t really ready to completely commit to a full-scale online marketing campaign. Typically, they’re less excited about practicing law than they are about writing about it.

Grow Your Practice

Then there’s everybody’s favorite, getting new business from the internet. Many law firms are learning that the internet can be an excellent source of new clients and new sources of referrals. They need comprehensive web marketing services. These typically include a website and blog, contact form integration, link building, and other features designed not only to help the website get found online, but to turn more traffic into leads and clients.

These are only a fraction of the different goals that a website can be used to achieve. The key is to identify these goals beforehand. What is a backlink?

I am sure when it comes to gaining traffic to your law firm website, you have heard of backlinks. Backlinks ARE CRUCIAL to your organic success in the search engines. Law firms that do not regulatory update their websites are probably using a backlink campaign to help boost their rankings in the search engines.

Any url for a site posted anywhere on the internet is a backlink for that site. If rawr.com puts a link to poof.com on their site, poof.com just got another backlink. But the details are quite a bit more complicated than just that.

Backlinks aren’t everything. But they are said to be the majority deciding factor in your search engine placement. Sites with a lot of backlinks are seen by Google as more important than sites with less backlinks. Some people spend hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars trying to get their links on other popular sites, link campaigns, link exchanges. But is it really worth it? Apparently so, because your search engine traffic can increase exponentially from strong and relevant backlinks.

All backlinks are not created equal. Backlinks on a less popular site count for less. Backlinks on a site whose keywords have nothing to do with yours, or is otherwise not similar in anyway to yours, count for much less. But backlinks that are either on a popular site, or a site similar to yours in content, is very powerful. If you put both together, its even more powerful. The Google spider is smart, it can tell 99.9% of the time if a site is similar to another, or not, by just looking at its content, so you really should focus on building relevant backlinks, or so it is widely believed. Google is very secretive about the actual formulas surrounding many aspects of their search engine, so although it is widely believed, its almost certain some facts are wrong or missing. Nontheless, it seems those who heed them succeed more than those who don’t.

If you don’t already know about Pagerank, you should read up on it elsewhere, or at my blog. Essentially pagerank is a rank that Google gives sites based on their own criteria, mostly popularity. Pagerank, abbreviated PR, runs from 1 to 10. 1 holds the least value, 10 holds the most. Google is PR 10, a newly started blog is actually rank 0. A backlink on a site with a higher pagerank counts for more than on those of lesser pageranks. A backlink on a site with similar content counts for more than on those of dissimilar content.
